Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I have been motivated to work on art in games since I was around 13. I've always loved working on art physically and digitally. Games have also always been a hobby I have enjoyed, when I realised I could have a career that involved both of these interests I knew I wanted to work in an industry where I would enjoy all aspects of my work.
I first realised I wanted to work in the games industry when I started playing League of Legends in 2012, I fell in love with all the unique character designs. I later explored many story-rich games and RPGs, my favourite being The Witcher 3, which further fueled my passion with its diverse character storytelling. A lot of Medieval RPGs also inspired me to get out of the house frequently visit National Trust and English Heritage places with my dad and take reference pictures together for me :,)
Just before entering a-levels, I was researching what I wanted to do in the future. Then by chance, a video of Blizz Art came on, and always liked how Blizzard games looked, with Cole Eastburn showing his stuff and it just sparked, this is what I want to do. Then I dived in deeper and found more things about concept art legends like Maciej Kuciara.
I first realised i wanted to work within game design when i was in year 10 of school, however it had been an idea i have loved since i can remember. It started in my art class during a module where we created household objects digitally using Blender and Photoshop, I loved the satisfaction of turning a simple cube into anything (even though i was not that good back then) from there I decided to study I.T for my final year at school as a side subject and study game development at College and uni.
While at university and studying fashion photography, I was able to experiment with a variety of capturing mechanisms in order to create my outcomes. This I believe has fuelled my desire to create more content in the future. In addition I also had the opportunity to work on client facing projects, this has given me sense of the fast-paced working atmosphere that exists in the creative sector, as well as challenges you face when creating tailored work.
I started learning how to paint digitally when I was in year 11, and realised quickly that I was getting more proficient at photoshop, so I moved to animating small scenes for my A level coursework. I applied to Falmouth for both Animation and Game Art and was offered both, so I picked game art, after all I've always loved videogames. for the past year I've been studying at Falmouth and have been learning to use core software like Maya, Zbrush, Substance painter and more to further advance.
I've been drawing since my childhood and I always enjoyed it. When I grew older and started playing computer games, I started realizing how much work is put into them and how creative some of them are. I wanted to become a part of it and produce art for the games I love. I discovered 3D at university and I absolutely loved it! I will soon graduate and will be trying to break into the industry!
I realized I wanted to be a part of the industry was when I began playing games that would challenge me to question the world the player is in where there was little to no dialog or information is given. I wanted to be a part of this genre and create characters that get the player to think like this. This is my definition of art.
I have always had an interest in creative media, having played video games since I was 10 or so and wanting to make my own. Though for a while I followed the path of science and have been a ranger, countryside manager, lumberjack , project assistant, fundraiser, postie and chef. I am now under my own finance paying my way to follow my art side and hope to be producing games. https://www.artstation.com/cheese_cheese
I realised I first wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry during my Foundation year at Hereford College of Arts. I had just finished my A levels where I had taken two history subjects with Fine Art and planned to go and do one last year of art on a Foundation course before University. However, whilst I was at Hereford I realised how much I enjoyed being creative and exploring a new digital aspect of art that I never had before and knew that this is what I wanted to do.
I never had an interest in any artistic medium until I was 16. I picked up a pencil one day and something clicked and I wanted to become an artist. I loved the look of games design and was always fascinated by the way games were designed. For a long while I believed I was going to be a concept artist but as went through my first year of University I realized I was more capable and intrigued by 3D design.
I first realised I wanted to go into creative media in Year 10 when I was wanting to go into Architecture. It wasn't until around halfway through the first year of college though that I realised that I love character design. Ever since then I have really enjoyed creating multiple characters, especially since I found out about ZBrush in Year 2 of college.
I realised that I wanted to go into this industry around the age of 15, when I realised that I could enter this line of work, at that age I focused all my spare time and effort into learning softwares and finiding out what it would take for me to be able to get into the industry, now after 5 years of education in games, I finally feel ready to go into the employment sector.
I have always played games when growing up as a kid and found it as a way to escape, I have wanted to be a part of making them since my time at secondary school before I did a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, VFX and Animation at Callywith Vollege in Cornwall before beginning to study Game Art at Falmouth University.
