Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
My family and I immigrated to the States from Brazil when I was just five years old. Mom and Dad were working two jobs and going to college. Even though they were busy, we all made time to watch movies together. I remember first realizing animation was a line of work after being given the VHS tape of Bambi. I became obsessed with watching and rewatching the behind-the-scenes videos of artists working to encapsulate the story and feeling of nature through art.
I attended art college as an illustrator back in 2012. Then it was not until my sophomore year that I discovered my interest in 3D character animation. I focused on character animation for several years until I became more interested in 3d modelling by the end of 2021. So I started taking online 3d modelling classes with AnimSchool.
I realized I wanted to pursue animation when I was a senior in high school back in the start of 2015. What sparked my interest was the finale to the Nickelodeon show, The Legend of Korra. It moved and inspired me so much to where I wanted to create things that could do for others what Korra did for me.
When I was 14 years old, I had a moment of "genius" when I realized that behind animated movies, there were individuals with jobs creating them. It was a mind-blowing realization for me. That was the first time I started to open up to the idea of working in what I loved... Storytelling! I've always had a passion for drawing, writing, and crafting worlds and characters. Even though the world of 3D didn't capture my heart until I started college in 2018, it is definitely here to stay!
I always had a passion and interest in art and design and like all the teenagers, I came around with these videos showing how games and the animation industry work behind the scenes I also have an interest in games and movies as a gamer and viewer. so I decided to be part of it, pursue it as a career, and bring my creative ideas and skills to life. this is what gives me joy and the spirit to push myself hard and enjoy the process.
I first realized I wanted to work in the creative industries when I was a child watching animated movies and being fascinated by how characters and stories could come to life through animation. I was drawn to the idea of using technology to bring imagination to reality and create engaging visual experiences for people to enjoy.
I worked in a different sphere than 3d modeling. I studied economics at university and started 3d as a way to find something interesting. And when I learned more about the industry I thought it would be great to work with animation or games. I was always curious about how people create such beautiful things. So I decided to change my qualification and follow my dreams.
Even though I always secretly wanted to be an animator, I never thought I had the skillset (or the courage!) to pursue it so I tucked that dream away into the recesses of my mind. However, after watching a documentary about 3D animation, I soon realised that with enough dedication, passion and drive, it was certainly something attainable. This drove me to quit my job in the broadcast media industry, which was more corporate than creative, and I began to study 3D animation.
It all started with a flip book animation my cousin gave me when I was 10. I fell in love with creating my little animation on post-it notes and sharing them with others. I attended Conestoga College in 2019 and was introduced to the world of 3D animation. I've always thought of myself as a 2D animation person until then. I enjoy creating 3D models and fall for the magic of rigging. I decided to improve my skills by enrolling AnimSchool's 3D Character program in 2021.
