Based on a concept by Matthew Dobrich.
I was captivated by the story told in Matthew's concept art and wanted to model out a small environment based on it.
With this project, I explored different methods of achieving game assets. Some assets were box-modeled in Maya and brought into ZBrush, some were created entirely in ZBrush, some textures were entirely Photoshop manipulation, while some were sculpted and created entirely in ZBrush, etc. I was trying to explore different workflows to diversify my tools of trade.
My goal with this piece was to tell a many different story elements in the environment alone. The backbone to every game, the environment tells you everything about the land before a word is ever muttered in game.
