For this project, I'm a bit late to uploading my process on this site but I have all my process backlogged.

Final Response
Unfortunately I came across some rendering issues at the end of the competition so I didn't get to render out the full sequence however I had a great time working on this project and will get it fully rendered in the next few weeks.
During this project I learnt some great new skills mainly learning how to take on a big sequence like this with lots of different FX.

Week 2 Shot 1 - All Elements + Environment
For the environment, I populated my scene using some megascans desert assets.
Note: Might get rid of the fire FX as it is not looking that good in renderers and is distracting.

Week 2 - Lightning Magic Shield
For the magic shield, I wanted to focus on sticking with the theme of lightning and electricity. The first element I made was a lightning shield that goes around a sphere.

Week 1 - Grains Initial Tests
In the First test, I had some grains moving unrealisticly through the air.
Test 2 - In this test, I refined some of the collision objects but was still having some issues with the grain's behavior.
Update - 5 Apr 2021
Week 1 - For the Hydralisk Breaking through the ground I decided to create a mound shape to act as a cave.
