Ancient Robot Temple
This page is being updated every week with more updates. Stay tuned!
Update - 16 Apr 2021
The astronauts crashed their spaceship and had to adventure in a new world. They found a wonderful planet, full of lights and an enigmatic energy around it. Here´s the footage they left us.
Here´s the final result. I´m gonna be doing some other projects to increase my portfolio so here´s the result of one month of work. I´m pretty impressed by myself from not know a single thing about modeling 6 months ago to this. It´s a great evolution I think, I´m leaving a comparation video down below. See ya!

Fifth Update: Tree textures, low-poly robot, robot textures, pantheon, walls and decals
I made the low-poly version of the robot (12546) using Decimate. I will improve it with LODs if I use it in a future project for better in-game efficiency.
Also finished pantheon (553 polys), you will see a better photo from it in-engine at the end.
Now the wall structure behind the robot.
Polycount: Full (272), Column(50), Wall(24).
And the last thing to do: decals. I made some to improve things like the robot, the pantheon and the walls behind it. One of them is a reference to a show i like so much.
I encourage you to find the reference in the final cinematic.
And to end this updates before the final one, two of the renders i toke from the ended environmnet.
I will publish the final update tomorrow if everything goes like i planned.

Fourth Update: New Version in URP, Vegetation, Rocks and Tree Sculp
I´m near to the end of the project! Here are the new updates and the process to them :)
This is the same project but with an improved lightning (actually working more in it), the finished rocks, and the terrain textures.
When I was working with the rock till, I saved an older version to use it in every rock to add some texture related to the terrain ones. Also made three variants of dirt and grass.
They are the three stylized ones, next are noise rocks and a brief view of vegetation and the full size version
To end this week, the vegetation assets in Blender and the tree sculps
Polycount:
Vines- 2056
Big plant- 567
Big plant with flowers- 795
Medium plant- 305
Medium plant with flowers- 449
Little plant- 168
Flowers- 26
Tree 1- 686
Tree 2- 656
Tree 2 with leaves- 3098
Noise rock 1- 244
Noise rock 2- 180
Sculped low rock 1- 516
Sculped low rock 2- 444
Sculped low rock 3- 759
I will work hard to end it the next week. That means that the next entry will have the robot, trees albedo, partycle system, wall trim and model, pantheon maps and model, water shader and decals in it. I will make another entry to end this contest with all the cinematics and renders, more visual to show only the results of the process.
Update - 3 Apr 2021
Third Update: Robot and stones sculp
This week I worked mainly in Blender for sculping the robot and the stone assets, here are all the high poly models.
This was the initial design based on the concept I drew. It´s great for a blockout, I needed to apply some alpha rock textures and move the body to the pose I made with the human. But, i needed to think about the head, it was loocking too scary for what I though about. So I made another moodboard and the final design.
The final result is very pretty. Now, the stones: two standard stones made with noise and three more specific based on the blockout ones.
The next week comes a big update with the Unity project using volume settings, the handpainted textures for terrain and the rocks placed in the blockout. Keep toned!
Update - 27 Mar 2021
Second Update: Robot Design and Blockout in Unity
After taking all the .fbx to Unity, I started placing them where i liked. Also, I replaced the terrain from 3d max and made one in Unity, painting it with default textures to get more into it and replace the layers when I finished my own handpainted ones.
Additionally, I made a little cinematic with a Dolly Track, that I will show in a future video, comparing it with another versions: one after I painted the textures and the final one of the contest.
Besides, I drew a design for the robot to start sculping it. It´s not actually the final design, it doesn´t include the rock statue features and I´m thinking about a redesig of the head in the future.
The update from the next week will be the full process of sculping this robot if there´s no problem so stay tuned!
Update - 23 Mar 2021
First Update: Blockout
This week I made some thumbnails to get the mood of the environmnet and start thinking about how the environment will be covered. They are pretty basic but they worked for me :)
Then, I worked with Autodesk 3D Studio Max the following days to complete the environment blockout. Sculping a simple terrain with the tools of 3D Max and the basic forms of my world.
The thing I cared the most was the proportions and measures based on the human body. It´s really important to fit this things for the contest to get more into the scene of a human arriving to a different planet. Also, I will export the file to Unity and start making the terrain there with the default textures of Terrain Tools before I make mines.

Initial Update
I did a research for references for my environment and ended up with a clear idea. I wanted to think about something with an special aura, something that looks familiar to the viewer, but far from home.
I planned to do a temple entrance, with a little pantheon, some rocks preventing the entry, blue and purple flowers, stone walls with vines, a puddle of water, also some rocks and trees dressing the ambient and a robot statue.
After completing my moodboard here are my thoughts of what I´m doing. I really like the idea of making it handpainted BOTW like to express that familiar touch and add it to the desolate temple.
I find interesting the statue of a robot refering to the ancient human civilizations, showing them another planet where there were beings like them, with their own gods and cultures. And making the statue a robot makes it more misterious because is something we are related to.
