During the quarantine days, Dad is bored in the house, and decided to make a web shooter and become Spider-Dad. It's basically an Object Matchmove applying a 3D model web shooter onto my dad's arm. And I also did a little extra environment matchmoving to add 3D objects on the table.

This is one of my Matchmove work called "Spider-Dad". It's basically an Object Matchmove applying a 3D model web shooter onto my dad's arm. And I also did a little extra environment matchmoving to add 3D objects on the table. This work is done during the quarantine, where I can't go out and find friends to do it, so I can only use my dad as an actor, and therefore naming this work "Spider-Dad".

There was a little inspiration coming from the animated movie "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse". This movie has an unique art style where you can feel like the movie is filtered with comic elements, like the pop art texture, the chromatic aberration to create that old vintage comic imperfect printing effect, the comic text words to express the sound effects... all of these just creates an unique look and feel to my work.

Initially I only plan to make just one shot, which is this arm shot. But then I thought that it would be nice to also do an environment matchmove, where I can have an establish scene showing my dad repairing or building the web shooter with 3D elements around the table. This can enhance the overall work even better.

However, there's a bit of problem that I face during shooting and matchmoving. For the arm shot, I actually reshot it for quite a few times. At first, I was using just white paper with tracker drawn on it and wrap it on my dad's arm. But this method doesn't work quite well as the paper is not like cloth material, it doesn't entirely wraps on the arm, therefore sometimes it will shift a little making the thing harder to track.

Luckily, I found a way to solve it which is using basketball wrist wrap as it has elastic and clothing material, it makes it more stable to track.

So that's all for my "Spider-Dad". Hope you guys enjoy it :D
