I started like one month later but here is what I have so far.
I decided that I wanted to recreate the entire environment with my own models and textures so I spent 1 week experimenting with different ideas I had. I ended up doing this kind of narrow cliff path which was simple enough to create in just one week since I didn't want to spend too much time with the environment.
For the story I thought about an isolated monster that is preventing people to go through this narrow path, that's why there are this kind of bridges on top of the cliffs.
I'm still experimenting with some ideas for the FX since I want to make sure I have everything wrapped up but my main idea is to be as organized as possible, I'll start developing first the FX that I consider more important like the ground breaking at the start and the particle FX from the cyborg. If I end up finishing those FX way before the deadline I'll start doing some secondary effects like debris coming down the cliffs...
For the FX I found quite a lot of references from the Evolve videogame, you can find the creator of the concepts art below the images.
