TAME IMPALA THEME KOMBI

Hello everyone !

I'm happy to present you my version of the Kombi contest !

I really hope you like it .

While researching references and searching for ideas, I remembered the current Tame Impala album cover, one of my favorite albums.

I became inspired by it because I find the artwork amazing, and in likeness to the hippie/psyche spirit which I wanted to add to my kombi.
So i decided to take the Theme of this album cover for my van texture.

I started with the base colors of the van, beginning with the wheels, and then the car paint.
It was a real challenge to make the stripes the way I wanted, so I did it on substance designer with simple nodes, exposed the parameters and exported it in substance painter to use it as an alpha.

For some paintings I did on the tires for example, I had to find a solution to be able to mirror it on different sides, because it's not possible to translate paint layers between udims. 
So I exported the mask layers of the paints, and uploaded it as an alpha to use it as a fill layer alpha mask and repeat it on the other sides.

Once the base color and the bases of the texture were done, I started to add dirt on the van.

Then I set the render parameters I wanted in the Iray renderer settings. 
And to finish, I added a bonus render with a different camera angle and HDRI backgound.
And voila !

This whole process was a real challenge and a good way to improve my skills and workflow, thanks to the Rookies and substance.
