Pink Kombi!

It's a pink kombi children's toy! For this challenge I wanted to recreate a plastic toy kombi van. As well as some nostalgia of a toy in good condition, so the van does not have too many scratches and the stickers haven't peeled off just yet. I made the plastic materials in substance designer.

Pink Kombi! -Final Entry-

It is a kids doll truck! some stickers on the sides and headlights!

Minor scratches but overall this old plastic toy still looks good and plays well with others!

Stickers are made in photoshop. Imported as texture maps- material stamps with projection mode.

pure ref board for references of car toy stickers for decals on the model - vw beetle 3d model render - toy vw van paint scratched off, stickers mostly intact - small details to notice so i can replicate on the model to texture it with subtle flaws for a realistic toy look

quick render test of the pink kombi!
the materials I created are applied to the van model, now it is time to add some little touches to resemble more the plastic toys for kids.

some references from toy story movies for their amazing details on their models that have the touch of realism and playfulness that we see in our toys. (stickers for the light glass, some flower icons, name on the bottom scratched on, some personal touches a kid would do...

I created the materials in Substance Designer : clear plastic, hard plastic with sparkles, rubber tire, painted metal.

only material not created by me is the knitted wool fabric from substance painter used for the curtains.

rough concept of the pink Kombi  - using the 3D model provided added some quick paint bucket fill to visualize the colors on the model

Main Reference image for the pink kombi - I had various doll trucks and campers when I was a kid( still have them in good condition) and I felt this challenge would be a great way to create some nostalgia in texturing!
