For my motion-capture class, we were given a variety of different actions to choose from.  We were tasked with, by the end of the semester, blending a walk with another snappy action (like a trip and fall or, in my case, a door breach and combat roll).  The walk was cleaned first over seven weeks as I was taught the ins-and-outs of MotionBuilder, a program I had never touched before.  The walk was made to be cycle-able and two versions - one in place and one normal - were completed.  The next eight weeks was spent choosing a new action to blend into, cleaning and adding flair, and blending the two together to create a cohesive sequence.

This is the raw optical data plotted onto a generic MoBu character.  There was quite a bit of noise and jitter in the opticals that required fixing via key deletion, filter application, and animation layer adjustments via the Human IK rig.  There was also no finger animation data available and I had to do that by hand.

In the final version, I added a makeshift gun prop to get the hands to move in unison, slowed the timing as the left foot was raised for the kick, and added the right hand touching the ground coming out of the roll as stabilization.
