Round of applause for our sponsors

A personal project I picked up during a summer break. The idea in my head was to make a welcoming bedroom.

I used many reference photos for the design and layout of the room. Everything in there is made by me except the bed model which is a purchased model I had in my library.

The Guitar is modeled after my guitar.

A photorealistic breakfast scene made in 2 weeks.

This project was particularly challenging because we had to use 3DS Max for everything. And I had only used 3DS Max for a few months about 7 years ago. However, my established 3D fundamentals from Maya helped me climb the learning curve very fast!

For the Pancakes - I modeled the general shape and scultped some wrinkled details. I also used noise modifiers to give it a more organic feel. The texture for the pancakes is fully procedural.

All the other texturing was done in Photoshop and every model is UV'd.

Model inspired by the Hell Boy mecha-glove.

All the modelling was done in Maya and textured using Substance painter.

All the wires are made using extruded faces along curves. The stitching is made in a similar fashion using curves as guides and then duplicating copies of a stitch along the curve.

A personal project.

Free Black Panther model downloaded from Turbosquid. Animation downloaded from Mixamo.

I used a solver to spawn curve splines on a static model and used point deform to transfer all that onto a moving black panther. Made in Houdini and After Effects.

A personal project I picked up after watching the fist "Sonic The Hedgehog" live action movie trailer. The 3 second shot in the middle of the trailer that had a shockwave looked both cool and approchable to me at first glance so I decided to give it a go!

Everything except the background was made by me. There were 6 elements. 3 made in Houdini. 3 in after effects.

The dust pyro is driven by particles that are using outward facing normals of a cylinder as velocity. A procedural setup using some VEX and those same particles also drive the electricity shockwave. More VEX was used to control how many individual strands of lightning I want. The number can be changed at will and the procedural setup will still give you the same look, speed, and size for the electricity.

Destruction practice with the new tools in Houdini 18.

There's 3 levels of fracturing done. Chipping and irregular edges done all thanks to the RBD fracture node. Debris and smoke done with particles and pyro simulations. All simulation timescales were driven by the timescale of the big RBD chunks.

Although nothing advanced, VEX was used to get more interesting randomized pscale for the debris.

Sound design by me and Google. All in all, a fun project!

Vellum study using my pancake model from the breakfast project. To make the steam I grouped by up facing normals after the vellum simulation and got varied up facing faces being grouped which I was able to use as my pyro source. Made in Houdini and After Effects.

Abstract Procedural modelling done in Houdini for practice at abstract art.

A showcase animation I made of the UI interface I designed for a student short film Icarus. The model was provided by the modelling team and I rendered the wireframe versions in all the different styles you see. I did the animation of the UI elements and the revels of the 3D model
