Skye Stirling - Concept art
A collection of recent concept art pieces I have created, featuring fantasy creatures and environments.
Skye Stirling - Concept Art
Hi, I'm Skye, a biology student at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, who has decided to change career paths from a marine biologist to a concept artist.
While I'm only just starting out as an artist, my art is heavily influenced by the natural world, and I hope to one day apply my perspective and knowledge of nature into fictional creatures and environments, to help the people who view my art feel the same sense of awe and appreciation for our biological world that I've experienced from a young age.
This entry includes my favorite projects I've completed over the last few months.
Creature of the pool
In this project I focused on lighting, colour, and texture in order to make the viewer feel as if they are gazing across this serene pool, witnessing the gentle and docile nature of a benign forest spirit.
This project was first sketched out on paper, then block colours reflecting the light values, and an outline were added on Adobe Photoshop. The final image was painted in Photoshop, with attention paid to the textures and lighting found within the image. A background was then added, as well as lighting effects.
Forgotten in the woods
In this image, I focused on using an array of different brushes to experiment with a variety of different foliage types, along with practicing using lighting and blurs to attract the viewers attention to the center of the image.
Gone but not forgotten
This project was the first one I found myself experimenting with lighting in, as well as applying a variety of textures for the bricks and sand. This project was also created in Photoshop.
