Final Update

This will be my final update for this contest due to time constraints on other projects. I will however update this page with an artstation link, as this will contain 3D viewers of all my assets I created.

Props

The final props that were made was a lamp and a fence, these ended up getting used multiple times throughout the scene.

The final thing I did to finish off my scene was to adjust the post processing and create a LUT. This brought a lot more contrast to the scene and created more focus around the emissive lights.

Final Renders

Update - 23 Apr 2019

This update I've been mainly focusing on filling up the scene and trying to remove the empty spaces you could see in my last update.

Ground Textures

I created two ground textures using substance designer. These were implemented into ue4 using the built in tessellation so I could get the best results from them.

Foliage

I've been spending a while on creating extra foliage and improving the look of the trees. I first created high poly leaves and randomly placed these along small branches. These were then baked down onto planes, and then finally shaped into bushes.

I decided to add foliage planes to my branches. This gave more life to my scene and filled up the empty space throughout my environment.

Props

I ended up creating only a barrel and a sign this update, planning to create up to 3 more props.

The final render is coming along nicely, I'm currently working on props that will help break up the vegetation and add interest to the overall scene.

Update - 19 Apr 2019

Animal Cage Hero Prop

Finally got round to re-topping and texturing the animal cage.

Trees

For the trees within my scene I quickly sculpted 3 bases and 6 branches, this meant i could mix and match them to create a variety of unique trees

Game Engine

I've been adding objects to my unreal scene since the start of my entry, however I forgotten to take some of the earlier progression shots. Here are the ones that I managed to capture.

Progression on Circus Tent

Been away this weekend so progress has been slow. However I've managed to get most of the circus tent complete with only the textures needing adjustments.

Update - 10 Apr 2019

Circus Tent

The past 2 days I've been making the high poly circus tent, it's around 90% finished. Most of the surface detail will be added in substance painter to save time.

Hero Prop Progression

I've started to make progress on my hero prop, using mostly 3ds max with the help of marvelous designer for the cloth.

Circus Tent Progression

After working on the main hero prop, I decided to take a break from that and start working on the circus tent. I decided to make the top part of the tent within marvelous designer so I could get all the natural folds and creases .

Inspiration and Ideas

For my circus environment I wanted to create a spooky outside scene, where the player would be able to clearly see the circus tent and the outdoor woods.

When searching for references and inspiration I came across an artwork which suited this idea, I used this as a base to work from.

Hero Prop

For my main hero prop, I'm going to create an animal cage. I really liked the look of the cages which have the ornament trims at the top and bottom, this is something I'm going to aim to keep throughout this prop.

White-boxing

With the base idea and hero prop already thought of, I began to white box.

This is the first iteration of white-boxing. This angle shows the animal cage abandoned and stuck in mud, while the main circus tent is hidden away behind trees.
