To design a fine dining restaurant for Azurmendi located at 29, Jalan Bangsar, 5, Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur with a total size of 10,000 sq. ft.
Restaurant Design : Fluctuation of Temperature
Azurmendi is a European cuisine’s restaurant with 3 Michelin stars. It also awarded as the most sustainable restaurant on 2014. The unique experience of this restaurant is when the diners come to Azurmendi, they will be guided go to the rooftop garden to inspect the home-grown produce. Also, having a selection of ‘snack’ in the indoor greenhouse. Besides, they will change their menu every season.
The three keywords developed from four seasons are fluctuation, flowing and looping. The fluctuation developed from the idea of Azurmendi’s ingredients change seasonally because different temperature produces different vegetable. Secondly, the keyword of flowing expresses from the feeling of the weather in every season. Next, the third keyword, looping is taken from the idea of cycle of seasons where the seasons are change according to the flow. This idea same as Azurmendi’s menu which change constantly based on the availability of the ingredients.
Based on the second element (flowing), the interior space will fill with different curve lines. Next, The fluctuation element will be playing with different levels to express the idea of fluctuating. Lastly, the looping means the design element will start from a point and flow around the interior and flow back to the starting point.
