Round of applause for our sponsors

Inspired by the Ocarina of Time Water Temple, I wanted to bring it up to a modern, stylised quality.

I took the original OoT Water Temple and remade it using the 3DS port as a reference as well as taking inspiration from more stylised games such as Breath of the Wild, Rime and this art piece by Tom Garden: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qq3nD

I created a cinematic flythrough of the environment featuring the Water Temple's original score by Koji Kondo to help give a stronger sense of scale in the scene.

I also took some beauty shots inside Unreal, I love using the cameras to push my work to a higher standard. I can endlessly tweak their settings!

I spent a lot of time with blueprints and materials to nail the feeling of each part of the environment.

The breakdowns that follow show some of the processes I used and the approach I took to build up the scene.

I learnt a lot on this project and it has given me many skills to take forward with me. It also taught me to have pride in my work and to push through the times of anxiety where it feels like the piece won't come together.
From struggling with the scene's tone, block out, colour and scale, there were plenty of places I tripped up but pushed through and I'm glad I did.

Here's a couple of progress shots to show how far the piece had to come to get here!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work! I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I did making it.
