The King - Magician

Searching for a good face first. When the face is done then the rest comes along. I decided to go for the top left one. It looked at me as if Etienne was alive but in pain, through all the years of struggles.

His clothes are simple, that's who he is. He doesn't want to do or be too much. It reminds him of where he comes from. Even very talented he tries to stay on the low and will never seek for attention.

I did some research for tattoos, the symbols of playing cards (heart, diamond, king....) will be on his fingers. Then because of his stage name, "The King", I looked into Versailles, Louis XIV, architecture, paintings... I thought it will be a nice touch in his arm tattoos. As he never calls himself "The King", he put it on his skin as a mark of where he is right now in his life.

Etienne aka “The King” - The Magician

In 1921, Etienne was born in a little town in the North of France – Coutalain

He was a creature born within his own kind, but they never treated him as their own. He was different because he had magical powers that none of his family had. For them it was a curse, so one night they left him alone.

For years he traveled through France, trying to fit in but nobody accepted him. But his magic got better and better.

One day, he came across this big tent, full of different people, creatures, species… It felt like family to him. He went to the owner and showed him what he could do. Impressed, the man took Etienne with him to join the “Circus”.

Now, Etienne’s magic is known from all over the globe. People are calling him “the King”, not just because he is good, but because his final signature would always finish with the king’s card.
