This is Archetype Red, a resurrected Joan of Arc who finds herself leading a team of other armored heroes in defense of the futuristic city of New Atlantis... yeah, there's a lot more to the story than that, but I'm still working on the specific details! This piece was inspired by my childhood love of Power Rangers, and my current love of the Japanese Tokusatsu genre from which Power Rangers originated.

I developed this model for the Art Heroes' SuperHero Art Challenge, a week long contest to design and model an original superhero in ZBrush. After gathering references and doing a paintover of the base model in Photoshop, I then separated the head from the body so the latter could be used as the bodysuit under the armor, the latter of which was created through masking and extract. The brushes I mainly used throughout the process were ClayBuildup, DamStandard, Hpolish, Inflate, Move Topological, and TrimDynamic.

I polypaintedm, applied materials, and rendered in ZBrush. Ultimately I ran out of time to properly pose or render the model, which taught me a valuable lesson about time scheduling! Still, this is the single most complete model I've made to date, and represents the start of a hopefully long term personal project to design and develop the characters and world Archetype Red is a part of.
