My (good) projects for this year!
My entry into the Rookies competition. I worked my ass off on most of these to varying levels of success. 3D art is truly and expansive and incredibly rewarding subject. I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I did making it!
My first project at Falmouth Uni was to make a vending machine. I've always been interested in history especially in mysterious or ancient civilizations. This interest provided the fuel and inspiration for the project.
I wanted to practice my hard surface modelling as this is an area I have always struggled in. To do this I made some props based on designs from the film: Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind. If you have seen it or read the manga do both!
I enjoyed this project although I could have approached it with more careful planning. There are a number of things I could have done better in terms of my production pipeline and project management. It was a valuable learning experience overall.
The final project for my first year at Uni. The task was to make a shop to fit within a 'Diagnon Alley' setting. I thoroughly enjoyed this project and learn a huge amount. It also made me realize that environment art was my passion and the subject I wanted to dedicated my learning to.
The outside of the shop was a joy to make. The gothic architecture combined with the stylized aesthetic made it super fun sculpting and texturing. I also learnt about trim sheets and modularity which are two topics I had never touched before! I finished the outside quite a bit ahead of schedule so decided to make the inside of the shop as well. :D
Thank you for viewing. I look forward to receiving all feedback and promptly improving as a result! 3D environment and prop art is my passion. See you next competition! :D x
