Amelia Tzemis - Stylised Characters and Environment

Hey Rookies :) I've just finished my final year at Hertfordshire University and here are some highlights from my work this year. I love stylised organic modelling and enjoy making characters and environments for both animation and real time.

Monster Model

I love anything with a comical or absurd aspect to it, which was largely what drew me to this (literally!) cheeky concept by Samuel Schultz. This was a personal project and although capturing the soft fuzzy look of the monster in 3D was a challenge, I thoroughly enjoyed working on this character. The software I used was Zbrush, Maya and Substance Painter and the final render was completed in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

Patty Pan: Radish Man

The protagonist of a final year group student short film Patty Pan (which can be viewed here https://www.therookies.co/entries/5825) , this character was made with the intent of being simple but highly appealing in the way he could be animated.

I was responsible for concepting him as well as creating the final model. Early on in his development, his long gangling arms were something we found to be an integral part of his appeal. Software used for this character includes Zbrush, Maya and Substance Painter. My breakdown video of him is rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3 and shots of him from Patty Pan are rendered in UE4.

My concepts for Radish Man. The moustache was an important design choice which we felt gave him more of a fatherly appearance.

Responsible for modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering in this breakdown. Idle animation by Vilte Bendziute, rig by Katherine Padley.

Patty Pan: Interior Environment

I was also responsible for modelling and texturing the interior environment for Patty Pan. From this project, I discovered a love for modelling stylised props and environments as well as characters.

The interior from the film in UE4. I used Zbrush, Maya, Substance Painter and Photoshop and was responsible for all modelling and texturing (except for the woodcut table which was by Lisa Blackwell and the mushroom portrait by Kate Bieriezjanczuk).

Turnaround rendered in Marmoset. I was responsible for all modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering with the exception of two vegetable portraits (mushroom by Kate Bieriezjanczuk, pak choy by Kirsten Tadique).
