Alice Mondot's entry to The Rookies Award 2020

Let's start with my first grooming experience, which was intense... but so satisfying !

I worked on all aspects, and learnt a lot during the whole process.

At the opposite of the living world... comes the snail ! I loved this project. I had a lot of fun working on the compositing. I wanted to change the horrific or disgusting image that snails may have, creating soft and pleasant atmospheres.

Now is time to leave the organic world. What is next is the set of a short film I am currently working on. It is the shack of an old man who lives in the Atacama desert. He used to take care of the many birds of the area, until he lost his family and entered a monotonous life, devoid of feeling. Yet, one day, a wounded bird on his doorstep reignite a little something, that was hiding deeply in his heart.

Firsts rough renders

I have not worked on the compositing of the movie for now. Yet, I did had fun trying to create a cartoon version of my set. The idea was to take the basics rough render and to give it an impregnating atmosphere. I drew my inspiration from comics, as the Spiderverse universe for example.

For the next project, you are going to enter Nick's universe. Nick is a teenager, who found his passion into shoe customizing. Weird, right ? In his student bedroom at the university, he does not study. He sews, cuts out, draws... He turns your basic sneackers into the most awesome shoes you never had.

For the last project, I wanted to share a simple set that I did enjoyed working on. The goal here was to create an interesting mood with a few assets.
