Round of applause for our sponsors

Here is my Entry for Rookie award 2020. I decided to present 3 of my best works I did this year, hope you enjoy ;)

           -- FIRST PROJECT--

This is one of my 3 best works of this year : Onion House

This little onion is growing under a car wheel in the middle of the forest, and it seems like a small creature has made it its home.

I created this image as part of a visual development exercise to train on stylized looking 3d. I had a lot of fun designing all the props and worked with Arnold aitoon on Maya to get this 2d effect. The textures are hand painted and for the most part done with Substance painter or Photoshop.

Compositing Breakdown.

Took a bit of time to do the compositing cause there was so many layers to tweak and adjust in order to have the perfect balance of colors and keep the 2d look as much as possible.

Here is the 2d concept art I made when I imagined the house. The goal was to get as close as I could to this concept while maintaining a 3d feel to the result to add depth to the image.

plants I modeled for the garden

little modeling process

         -- SECOND PROJECT --

Baby Troll

This baby troll was created for a small film project in group that we've done at school. This is an alternate version of the textures I did for my showreel. For this image i did everything except the rigging done by Hugo Schenegg

Final image and raw render.

I rendered with arnold renderer on Maya

My baby troll is from another planet but he was abandoned by his parents and now leaves in a grotto near the sea where he tries to survive. He might look a bit ugly and agressive but in reality he's just very lonely... Wanna give him a hug? :D

Breakdown :

Everything was textured with Substance Painter. It was fun trying to get something that would look quite disgusting but not too ugly at the same time. That's why I went for this purple-ish color range to contrast with the pimples

3d Turn and 2d original concept I did (he was originally green for the movie)

More design sheets

Bonus Shot ;)

       --THIRD PROJECT--

Beyond Human - The Gate

This is my first school project I did this year ! We had about 6 weeks to create a 3D shot based on the theme "Beyond human", so I've decided to create a nomad from the future, living in a post-apocalyptic world dryed out by the global warming. It was really fun to do and I got to try Marvelous Designer for the first time.

Standing in the middle of nowhere, in the driest desert, lies the gate between two worlds.

Final composited image and raw render.

Sculpted in Zbrush, textured with Substance painter and rendered with Arnold on Maya

Mechanical arm I entirely designed. It's mainly made out of junk and powered by solar energy

More modeling close ups and zbrush sculpt turn

2D concept I did for this futuristic nomad.

That's it, those are my 3 favorite projects I did this year ! I worked alone on all of them (except the rigg on the baby troll) from 2d concept to the final 3d image. Thank you for looking at my entry, I hope you enjoyed it ! :)
