Sit Tight - A Cyberpunk Animated Short
This is a personal project cost me roughly 3 months of spare time to finish. It features a simple story that consists of a few car chase scenes along with some funny tweets from Elon Musk. I created this cyberpunk city and the Tesla Roadster 2020, and few stock assets were used as described on the main entry page.
Sit Tight - A Cyberpunk Animated Short
This is a personal project that cost me roughly 3 months of spare time to finish. The story itself may be quite simple:
I combined some of the funny tweets from Elon Musk in which he joked that the world is a video game simulation inside our brain and alcohol is the solution to life. A Tesla Roadster 2020 is driving by itself with the autopilot activated while police cars are chasing behind, so there may be a driver who is drunk and sleeping on the rear seat. At the end of the road, a big screen shows that the simulation would be terminated soon due to some critical system failure, which indicates that the whole scene could be a drunk dream inside someone's mind, senseless and unstable, who knows.
Besides the creation of this whole cyberpunk city and the Tesla Roadster 2020 car, I also spent quite a long time designing all the different neon signs. And almost every single element is a reference to some classic cyberpunk films/animations, such as Blade Runner, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell. Obviously, there are also lots of elements referring to Tesla and Elon Musk's other companies.
The Tesla Roadster 2020 was created with realistic exterior, simplified interior, and an animated touch screen.
Most of the buildings are using facade images from textures.com as textures.
The model of Venus de Milo statue is downloaded for free from the CC0 collection on Sketchfab.
Most of the neon signs are created based on different fonts. English & Icon fonts are from dafonts.com, Chinese & Japanese fonts are from fonts.net.cn. All the fonts are for personal use only.
The digital signages contain royalty-free stock images and 2 commercials - Tesla Roadster 2020 & Cybertruck. The stock images are from various stock footage websites, such as Pixabay and Pexels. However, I created some texts and motion graphics on top of these raw images to fit the scenes.
The overall UI of the touch screen is inspired by some interface designs I searched through Dribbble. However, the map animation is originally designed and created by myself.
The random cars on the street (except my own Tesla Roadster model) are purchased from cgtrader.com
The train model is downloaded from Sketchfab and it's royalty-free for personal use.
The background music - Deorc Decuple by FormantX, and Sound FX are provided by Epidemic Sound & YouTube Audio Library.
