Chernobyl

In September 2019, I travelled to Ukraine to visit Chernobyl. I was captivated by its beauty, despite the disaster of 1986. 

I wanted to create the famous Pripyat Azure swimming pool. It was important to me to be able to correctly portray the mood that I felt whilst being there.

With the large number of images I had taken, I produced a mood board.

One exception I made was for the lighting. Understandably, the lighting from the reference images were quite flat, so I made some changes to that to make it look more dynamic.

I learnt so much creating this scene and can't wait to carry those skills over to future projects!
