Hi, I'm an animation student doing a Bachelor of Creative Media Production at Massey University. Here I'm presenting some of my work in concept art and illustration for the contest. I'm really happy to be a part of the competition and have the opportunity to learn from it.
CHARACTER CONCEPT
AMORI the Neocensor
The main character of a 2D game project that I'm currently working on.
Amori is a young mechanic with a special ability to use The Cense, an ability to communicate with the Spirit. Experienced nerves injuries from a young age, Amori has to use a wheelchair to aid her with her daily life activities. She is strong, independent and eager for an adventure to safe her Spirits friends from other evil Censor.
Below is a collection of thumbnails concept of Amori. At this point, the story is still very vague so I want to experiment with different types of character and work back and forward with the narrative to create a better portrait for our main character.
Then I narrow it down to three concepts that suit the story and the aesthetic of the game the most.
The wheelchair is one of the most important props for Amori. The world I'm building in the game is fantasy with a bit of steampunk element, and I want it to reflect on my wheelchair design.
The goal that I'm aiming for is a design that convenient and handy enough for Amori to move around manually, but also has a boost system made out of steam mechanic which is used for a gameplay element to boost her faster.

Beside 2D concept and animation. I also enjoy working as a 2D illustrator. I like to use both digital and traditional material in my artwork.
