Office Design - Spaces

Martijn Roordink created Spaces in 2006 along with Rattan Chadha (ex-CEO of Mexx, huidig CEO CitizenM hotels) and Frederique Keuning (Creative Director) with the idea to create something that didn’t really exist yet. “We got inspired when one of us was working in a nice place along the canals”. There was a good vibe and people were constantly asking whether they could rent a desk or stay for lunch. From that came the idea that work could be a lot more fun, efficient, inspiring and productive when you share it with likeminded others. And that was the start of Spaces. In October 2008, Spaces opened their very first location at the Herengracht, one of the historic Amsterdam canals.

The concept is inspired by a combination of 3 keywords that are MINIMALISTIC, BOLD, and LINES.

The word minimalistic was taken from most of Spaces company branches concept where they used simple design but with bold /contrast colors and there we have the second keyword, bold. The third keyword which is lines, was taken from the geometric form (hexagon) in Spaces logo.

In this design, lines from the geometric form are used by applying layers of various texture/finishes structure where it creates contrast from the plain surface. The space will be design in a minimalistic way with colors and tones not more than three.
