The start of something great!

I'm completely new in 3D. I've been doing this for a grand total of 2 months. But I promised myself to not hold myself back, so I will push myself to get better. This is what I have accomplished in these 2 months.

Welcome Dear Friend! This is my first entry into a challenge ever. Enjoy!

I just got started with 3D and have only been doing this for about 2 months with no prio experience. Now, let's see what I've managed to do in those 2 months.

You sneeze, you leeze...

For me, it was special to join this new community and I tried reaching out to people in order to get to know the community. I did a collaboration with someone I recently met (you can see it below, under "For my ancestors!") and posted it. After that, another person reached out to me and asked me if we should do some sort of collaboration as well. Me, being completely new, got very excited. Her idea was basically that we create one each of the other persons characters.

I picked this little devil guy that is originally a character made by @bluedot89.

I wanted to try and create a scene where the fire on his head somehow had a purpose, tied to strong emotions or something unexpected. With a head of fire the inspiration from Hades in Disney's Hercules is hard not to have. The  same goes for Anger in Inside Out. I also tried to find inspiration from a situation you can relate to. With summer coming, so does the sneezing, and I guess a lot of people can relate to that feeling of having a sneeze build up.

This was also my first project where I did a proper retopology because that's what you're supposed to do I've learned. Below are some images from before and after the retopology, and a visual result of the different sections of the head.

For my ancestors!

This one was a crazy fun project in which I worked together with a friend I met through Instagram. He made the axe, but the idea came from me. I wanted to create a viking women that had a giant weapon. I am Swedish after all, and it seemed like a fun idea. I worked a lot with the details and learning procedural textures was really fun. The leather, the bandage and the red skirt are all procedural. I also worked more with the lighting on this one than I've done on any other render because I wanted this to look more like a night scene.

The amazing axe is made by @sarach_3d and his original post can be found here.

Dance like no one is watching!

This was one of my first projects. I had just managed to rig this big bloke of a character and I wanted to make him move, not by using Mixamo, but trying to do everything by hand. It was an intense start for me but I learned so much by biting off more than I thought I could chew. But I chewed like crazy and this is the result that came out from it. The dance I used for reference was clearly Napoleon Dynamite. To create a bit of dynamic I also added in a TV that plays the scene as my character is dancing along to it.

I like to think of this one as this buff guy that has a secret passion for dancing and if I decided to work more on this particular scene I would probably build a scene where you can see sign of this. A stack of VHS tapes with aerobics videos and more things that tells the story about this particular character.

This character also had another set of clothing when first creating him, but I wanted to have something a bit more close to Napoleon Dynamite. So, for the final render in the video, he's wearing that. But, I first created the character after some real "gymbros" I met at the local gym and thus, his clothing look different in the first versions of his life, as you can see below.

On the shoulder of giants

This was my first character I created from a reference. I was browsing the world wide web and suddenly fell upon these amazing creatures, created by @mrdanidiez.

I instantly fell in love with the style and started to think about both possible animations that could be created from these, and also about the story behind them, even though I'm sure Dani had already thought about this. It was also fun to see if it was possible to create something as close to the original as possible.

Thank you for watching my stuff! Make sure to help a new artist stay inspired by giving me a high five!
