Here you will find four work pieces I have done during these last months in Architectural Visualization, a master’s degree in the CEU San Pablo University.

THE BAPTISMAL REFLECTION

The Church of Santa María has been my first big personal project. The church, located in Marco de Canaveses, in Porto, was designed by Álvaro Siza. Once I chose the architecture, I carried out a research about the architect and the church itself. Then I decided to generate an image of the baptismal font showing it from a different perspective. While developing the project I came across some difficulties when realizing the tiled walls and their reflections, which I finally created using Railclone.

STILLNESS

The Monastery of Leyre, located in Navarra (Spain) and made by José Yárnoz, is another project I have done while finishing my master’s. Once again, I carried out some research, particularly about the construction materials. I chose to realize an image of its crypt and used Railclone to create most of the scene. Since it has barely any natural light, at first I struggled to generate the illumination. I finally decided to use only natural lighting. I tried out different illumination systems till I reached the appropriate. The stones also created some difficulties, so I decided to make them with a 3Ds Max Modifier, VRayDisplacementMod. On the other hand, most part of the scene was realized with Railclone so that I could generate the different walls and arcs that integrate it.

NATURE’S REFLECTION

My image is inspired by a photograph of Lina Bo Bardi’s Glass House, located in Brazil. This has been my most recent project. I chose my image to be an exterior one to show both the house and its surrounding vegetation. Making the plants fit the architecture was probably the hardest part of the process. To get round it, I used Forest.

MY START

My first practice in Architectural Visualization was Ruetemple’s minimalist apartment in Moscow. I chose one of the photographs which shows its interior. The global illumination and textures equalization were both difficulties to overcome to be able to produce a good-quality material for wood and different materials’ saturations. Finally, I carried out different tests with the ambient occlusions.
