For the lighting, I added in a screenshot of the environment the ball will be in as an image plane so that I can compare with the actual scene. As I only used one light source it wasn't too difficult to recreate so I just created an area light, rotated it and adjusted the intensity so that it fits in with the other objects on the table.
I also added an aiShadowMatte surface texture to the plane that the box is sitting on so that it shows shadows from the ball and the top of the box. I adjusted the settings in here so that it blends in with the other shadows.
