Railgun Tank Concept Design.

Spent the last 5 months creating this concept design which was originally intended to have a full "promotional video" of sorts. Sadly that video is nowhere near completion to be featured here, but since this is my first *big* project I wanted to share the rigged model anyways.

Round of applause for our sponsors

Hello there!

Thank you in advance for stopping by in my little corner of the artistic world and taking the time to read through my ramble, or at the very least check out the things that I intend to submit for the contest!

Without further a due, here she is.

The idea for this tank first popped into my head last autumn when I was experimenting with some quick, 1 hour modelling challenges. Amongst the various things that I made was an Abrams tank, which got me thinking on what I could create from my head as a "futuristic tank" that would still be believable.

I've done a lot of concepts crude 3D objects in Blender, trying to find a shape that would work, while at the same time doing an extensive study into modern main battle tanks.

Inspiration / "Winning" Concept / 90% Model / Finished Render

The final result is a concept for a semi-futuristic main battle tank that incorporates elements from modern battle tanks, while at the same time having some futuristic spins to it.

Overall the project took me about 5 months to finish next to college, and ate up a lot of my free time. I've used Blender for the base mesh, textured it using Substance Painter, then re-imported it into Blender for rendering and setting up lightning. These renders were then imported into paint.net to be adjusted. (The original images had a watermark, which I've removed here to avoid confusion, but can be found on my Artstation uploads).

The concept design kept changing during the entire process up till the texturing phase. I drew a lot of inspiration from a lot of other artists on Artstation, with a notable mention being noax, whose work kept me moving forward during the long hours of UV mapping and fixing geometry.
