City Port Project:

For this project, we were tasked to create a city port. For the thumbnails we were asked to use the photo bashing technique and use primary source images, which we took of Norwich. After deciding on what type of city port I am heading towards I was able to have a rough idea of what kind of style I am going for, which was the Medieval ages. I’ve always been drawn to that time of history for some reason and it was nice to have the opportunity to interpret it.

I combined multiple photographs and used a quiet simplistic style for my paintings. It was something new that I was trying as a style, which I refer back to fine art ink and watercolor painting, which I used to enjoy back in my fine art drawing days. I carried, the theme of black and white drawing and one color type of background. I wanted them to be easy to connect even if the person looking at them had to mix and match from a bunch. The idea was to portray different places of the city, that could be seen, from the town’s marketplace to the castles and the houses.

The idea of my city port was to create a medieval city with two kingdoms, contrasting the good and the bad. The inspiration I gathered for my castles was based on a childhood game I used to play called “Heroes of Might and Magic V”. For the evil side of the castle I created a castle full of spikes, I used dark and gloomy colors to be able to give the feeling of isolation and fear moving around the air. Just like the castle that mainly evolves on the bottom of it, just like a bunker, so do the swamp houses made for the people leaving in the city. They all have more happening under the ground rather than on to fool the eye of thinking that it is quite a small and secluded place. Quite the opposite goes for the “good” castle. The people of that side of the city secluded themselves from the darkness. Their part is floating, rising above the other side.

I did a 3D model of the city port in order to get a better perspective and be able to lay down the vision in my head in Maya. I also found it much easier to create the above plan map of the city by using the above view of the software. I also found it much easier to create the above plan map of the city by using the above view of the software. For my mood painting I used my 3D Maya model. The idea was to create a viewpoint from behind the evil castle and be able to show the clash between the two sides of the city.

Visual Update and Skin Idea for Fiddlesticks from League of Legends:

For this university task we were asked to create a visual update and alternative skin for Fiddlesticks from League of Legends. As a LoL player this was a task that very excited to do. I decided that in order to get a better understanding of the character I need to do my research on it. I’ve read a few several lore’s, looked at videos and theories that add more information as the lore is not as specific as one of the more recent characters. The story also changed several times that the character was created.

For the design of the splash art I did few thumbnails, from which each represents an image from one of the many lore’s he has. I decided to go with the one from his summoning the cave by the powerful sorcerer, which is why he still doesn’t have the key around his neck. I wanted to portray the feeling of power energy coming out from the summoning of Fiddlesticks. I surrounded him with the green mist that he as a character has around his face usually. The full lightning in the cave comes from Fiddle himself, which shows the dominance he as a harbinger of death contains in his look. It also helps with making the focus fall on Fiddle because of the strong energy he radiates.
For the skin I did a simpler splash art, where he is roaming around the land spreading his wrath. The main light source is the lantern that he holds having green mist lightning the way for him to find his way and his face. Even though in the design idea I created him with bird claws, for the overall clothing I gave him a set of purple gloves to contrast his green cloak, hints of purple can be seen on it as well. I did a new design for the weapon he has, adding a red stone on it and tweaking it up a bit. In the background can be seen a farm and an original scarecrow.
In the lore’s and theories, he is portrayed as this scary scarecrow, that is on earth go spread evil. In one of them, he has been summoned by a powerful sorcerer with huge magic power that no other warlock can contain, he summons Fiddlesticks to fight the arena of League of Legends, he violated the code by doing the incantation of Fiddle. The warlock who summoned him magically disappeared when something went wrong with the of the scarecrow. The other magicians sealed the place he was held in to protect the others from the unknown evil that Fiddle represented, no one knew the full extend he was capable of. After years they started sending the worst of prisoners in there to find their doom by the hand of Fiddle. He was also let to fight on the arena of League of Legends where he would go against other champions. In another lore he manages to run away and spread fear and death everywhere he goes through. He murders for no reason has no restraints or feelings of guilt because he is the “Harbinger of Death”. It was also believed that he couldn’t speak, all that he could do is imitate notices. In the newest lore, he murders thieves because they crossed his path and wanted to take things from his land, while they were trying to steal some woman’s jewelry while she was passing in her carriage. Another story says that he is made from a farmer to protect his farm, but in a mystic way he comes to life and kills his owner and everything in his way taking the land as his. He is dressed in a gunny sack, which is ripped on places so that his head and arms can come out through, his arms are from wooden sticks combined. Just like a normal scarecrow would look like. However, because he is a creature created by magic, he has a green mist coming out of his eyes and mouth. He also has a scythe which he slathers his victims with and a lantern that he keeps on his belt. The key on his neck he has taken from the sorcerers he killed after running away from his prison.
After my research I started with creating a mask which has the mouth and eyes sewn together, so that he cannot speak or see. I stuck to the original vision of how the character looks like, but I tried to tweak the concept, make him taller and scarier, a bit more stable than what he used to be looking. I spend most of the time on the mask, because I wanted to create the feeling of fear, when someone initially looks at him. The focus falls on the face because of the green mist that comes over his eyes and mouth. His clothes are torn on places from all the fights he had to go through when he was sent to fight. He has the key on his neck that he took from the people who held him hostage. In my interaction I added some straws coming out beneath his clothing, to help explain why his body looks so formed, when he doesn’t have anything underneath. I also added the neckless from the latest lore that I believe he takes after killing the thieves. The lantern I designed for him is made by a skull of a crow, which I thought is interesting to stylize because he is a scarecrow himself.
I also had to design an alternative skin for him, in which I sketched him as a crow himself. He has a crow skull instead of a bag over his face, however, crows can’t speak either, which keeps the idea of him just imitating noises and not actually being able to talk. Instead of wooden branches, his arms and legs are made of bones and his hands don’t have a human form anymore, they instead have the shape of a bird’s claws. Instead of the straws coming out of his clothing he has feathers coming out. His dressing is ripped in the middle revealing his empty rib cage, which is not hidden by his cloak.

Wild West Assets:

For the Wild West task, we had to create assets suitable for a game that would be played by children. Because of that the design of the assets had to be more animated rather than realistic.

"Hammer" Magic The Gathering Fan art

I had to create was of a war hammer for a black card. The location of the painting needed to take place at a field, with a repulsive and diseased mood to follow. The hammer needed to be brutish with a mixture of metal and flesh. As a design, I oriented myself towards creating a hammer made of bone, human muscle, wrapped around with human flesh, taking the place of a bandage, keeping the muscle on. For the pose of the hammer and the hand that was holding it I did a variety of thumbnails, which showcased it being held close to the ground just after the fight on the battlefield finishes.

Character Design:

This was the task I enjoyed the most out of all the once we had because I’ve always had a passion for drawing characters and portraits. In the brief we were given the task to create a character named Daniel Thorne, who is an ex-military, who is now a leader of the Manchester resistance cell against the Russians, who in 2022 overtake England. He has a big experience with being a mechanical engineer, because of this what he served as in the British army. However, after being discharged he spends a decade working as such and later gets forced to be a mechanical engineer for the Russian military. In secret he has been leading the fight against them.

Character Design:

For this project, during my first year of university, I had to create a character design by a given time period. The one I had to work on was a girl from the Edo Japan era.

After researching the era and going through the storyline that I was given, which was for a girl who was abandoned and chased after. The storyline was taking place around a forest, where the character had to fight for her survival. She ended up finding friends and being the source, who destroyed the evil monsters that were torturing the people in the forest.

I wanted to incorporate the old tales about the mystic creature "Kitsune" and decided to add more to the character and turn her into this fictional being.

Personal Project:

After the new release of the upcoming season of Money Heist, I got highly inspired and drew a fan art piece of Ursula Corbero and Alba Flores.
