My first Demo Reel from Vancouver Film School. I’ve tried to make more like a short film rather than a modeling demo reel, so people who are not from the industry can also enjoy it 🙂

Round of applause for our sponsors

I’m happy to present you my first Demo Reel from Vancouver Film School.

I’ve tried to make more like a short film rather than a modeling demo reel, so people who are not from the industry can also enjoy it 🙂

Concepts, modeling, texturing, lighting and art direction by me, rigging by Ben Lin, compositing - by Samy M. Moussallem and me:)

Hope, you’ll like it!:)

Breakdowns

For the breakdowns let's start from characters.
I went through the entire pipeline from Concept art, ZBrush Sculpt, Retopology, and Texturing.

The Bad Guy Sergio

Here're the concept sheet for the Bad Guy. I called him Sergio.
So, I started from the silhouettes, than from the big shapes and general proportions I moved to the clothes.

Then I moved to Zbrush, made a sculpture, moved to Maya, retopologized him, unwraped the UVs and done the textures in Substance Painter.
Here's the result.

Police Officer Stu

Also, there's a Police officer in the movie. His name is Stu. I've also done concept sheet for him using the same pipeline.
First of all - silhouettes.

Then I moved to the cloth design.

And finally to the 3D packages, such as Zbrush, Maya and Substance Painter.

So, this was my pipeline for the characters. It was a difficult task, because I never done characters before, specially in 3D. The thing that helped me to reached the result with high quality is that I was doing one hour sculpts every day for 2 month before I moved to mu own characters. Instructors in my school helped me to learn Zbrush as well.

Also, there are 2 vehicles in my movie and a lot of other small things, that I was concepting and modeling too. Let's have a look at them.

Police car

I used the same pipeline that I used for characters for design search. I love iterating, so I've tried some different kinds of shapes. Here the variations and the final model.

Pickup truck

For this vehicle I used exactly the same pipeline.

I've also done a gas station and a lot of small objects, such as chair, canisters and so on.

Also I've created en environment for my small movie. Here're some breakdowns.
