3D & VFX by Rafael L.M.
My three favorite projects I created during my final term at Vanarts. I wanted to develop my skills as a 3D artist , focusing on lighting, and hair/cloth simulation.
IVH | Sensory Seas Dress
This is my take on Look 21 from the Sensory Seas collection by Iris Van Herpen. I was inspired by how the fabric looked as if it was floating and thought it would be a perfect project to use Houdini.
I am responsible for all aspects of this project except for the catwalk animation which was provided by Rocio Alejandra Perez.
Library Mouse
This project is inspired by the book series Library Mouse by Daniel Kirk, and The Amiable Guinea Pig poem by Beatrix Potter. I wanted the space between the books to look as comfortable and inviting as possible. This project was my introduction to Redshift and Houdini so I tried to include plenty of different assets for me to model, texture, light and render.
I am responsible for all aspects of this project except for the mouse rig, which was made by Luis Alberto Lira Uribe.
The Witch
The witch was the final project I added to my demo reel from school. I wanted to use both cloth simulation based on a real life dress pattern and hair blowing through the wind. I gave myslef one week to work on it to see where I was at skill-wise. i enjoyed researching pattern making and translating those skills to 3D.
I am responsoble for all aspects of this project except for the woman model and her rig.
