Keep in Touch

"Keep In Touch" is my senior animation thesis at Harvard University. In exploring the kinds of relationships we can have online and the worlds we can soar into from our bedrooms via our imaginations, I hope it can make us all connected.

In this age of corona, it's an unexpectedly relevant film.  I hope it can be a meditation on the kinds of interactions we can still indulge in.

It's been a joy and challenge to create this film. From concept to story to modelling, rigging, animating, rendering, compositing, sound design, and composing an original score, this production has been an entirely independent and original production. I hope you enjoy it!

Min and Lillian are best friends...but the only place they've ever met is in the online world of the fantasy novel they're writing together over the internet.

Isotropix Clarisse was used to build out more complex environments representing the fantasy worlds my main characters write themselves into. The color and lighting progression also reflect my characters' development through the film: the fantasy lands they visit start as lighthearted, fun places, but come to represent places of longing where they cannot meet as they wish to.

Since my main characters communicate exclusively over the internet, the UI/UX design was a small but important part! Ultimately the text bubbles evolved, but each character's designated color and the overall messaging conveyed didn't change that much.
