Horizon - Isart Digital 2019
As global nuclear war on Earth is leading humanity to extinction, a probe is launched into deep space from the International Space Station, just before the station itself is destroyed. The probe then begins a long journey through our galaxy, passing unknown celestial bodies and encountering many dangers.
Horizon is our graduation film from Isart Digital. We worked on it for a year, at school and from home. Our team was composed of seven students in charge of the visuals, two for the sound design and three others for the music.
The probe was designed in a way that was aestheticly interesting, but also logical. All its elements, the tanks, the radiators, the capsules containing the probe's cargo, were disposed in a realistic way.
We used a lot of pictures taken from space as references for most of the shots, even if in the end we took some liberties, to create a more cinematographic experience.
For the final planet we wanted to create a cold and wet atmosphere, with a rocky ground. We drew our inspirations from movies, like Prometheus, but also from real life landscapes, for example in Iceland.
