Arcana Kingdom
A Ringling College senior game art thesis created over the course of one year from concepts to final execution. Everything is created by me, Megan Hancock.
The Final Trailer- all shots where captured in real time in Unreal Engine 4. The game is completely playable from start to finish with the inclusion of an alternate player path to help with replayability.
- Concepts -
These were concepts created for the Empress and her area (see left) and the end of the game, The Hanged Man's Cape (see right). Both of these concepts changed slightly in the transfer over to 3D, and in the case of The Hanged Man's Cape, certain changes were made to help player guidance as well.
Later, the choice was made to have no living organisms, and all assets should look like they are made from easily identifiable materials. (Plants made of paper, Clouds and Sea of cardboard, and The Empress and Emperor made of metal.)
In Arcana Kingdom, you play as the Hierophant- a character that was deigned to look serious and powerful in their own way while also having design concepts that connect him both to his Church and to The Empress. Arcana Kingdom has no living organisms in the game, so the choice was made to make him a inanimate robot/puppet.
- Beauty Shots -
The Hierophant's Chruch and the player start.
The Empress's Plea to the Hierophant
The Hanged Man's Cape and End of Level
The Final Hierophant - Some changes were made to the design to help with readability and more flexibility with his animation set.
