WORLD SCIENCE FESTIVAL Main Titles

Concept Statement:

The mission of the world science festival is to create and cultivate a general public that is informed by science, inspired by its wonder, convinced of its value, and prepared to engage with its implications for the future. Our title sequence is aimed at taking the viewer on a visual journey through the major branches of science by displaying the connections between the microscopic to the astronomic. This concept follows suite with the world science festival because it attempts to spark and cultivate interest in science and create an increase in understanding the world around us.

About the Experimentation Process:

As motion designers playing the role of scientists, we felt the need to conduct our own experiments. We ran several tests over a weekend trying out many ways of filming light and projected images through a prism. The idea that began to form in our heads upon experimenting was that of multiple realities taking place inside the refractive interior of the prism. The formal test of our hypothesis involved projecting our sequence on a clear plexi glass screen, and filming through the mirrored universe inside the prism.

The finished results appear as brief 'ghost glitches' on the 2D fabric of the sequence, as if the viewer were offered glimpses into a parallel Universe.

SAVINGS Main Title Sequence

This title sequence was based on, and animated for my Senior Thesis film 'Savings' (previously titled 'Danny.') The film centers around a mother's seemingly mundane life drastically changing upon receiving the news that her son's high school is being assailed by an active shooter. Designed by me and animated by my lifetime friend and colleague, Fernando Yanes, this sequence is meant to establish the dark tone of the film while subtly showing key plot easter eggs whose meaning are validated by the end of the short film.

DIG INFINITY Brand ID

Music has the magical property to transport the user through countless timelines and spaces at once. This journey takes the shape of the sound, and its various changes in pitch. I want to interpret this idea in the form of synesthesia: visible rainbow waves of sound traveling at light speed and becoming Dig Infinity’s logo.

This will involve a combination of mixed media and photography to add a vintage feel to the graphic color and shape of the logo.

BOVINE RAPTURE Animation:

Don't you think cows have grown a bit bitter after all those years of alien abductions? As part of a retaliatory effort, the leader of the Earth's directorate, Bovinus Bhoomi sent a fleet of space-faring cows to eight different star systems in the year 4033, with the end goal of abducting alien cattle for 'research' purposes (there were numerous disasters and nuclear wars led by mankind in the preceding millennia that caused cows to mutate- anyways, long story.)
