Abhilash Katta - Games Environment Artist
This is my entry for the Rookies 2023, I have just graduated with an MA in Games Art and Design from the University of Hertfordshire, and these are the projects I have completed during the course.
Alchem-Tech Laboratory
This is an environment I created in Unreal Engine 5 and is based on two different concepts, one by Adam "Forange" Törn and another by Sergey Grechanyuk. A deviation from the heavy stylization I normally do, as I wanted to practice a more realistic look for this piece.
Arcane and the upcoming Hogwarts legacy served as a great source for references.
I didn't follow the concept, 1:1, as I wanted to experiment with some of the elements and assets within the scene.
Teapot Rest House
Based on a lovely concept by Jourdan Tuffan.
Working on creating the character and its accompanying assets, as well as the environment was a challenge, but I am happy with the end result I was able to achieve in the time that I had. It was also great practice in organic character sculpting. Modeled in Maya and Zbrush, textured with Substance Painter, and Substance Designer, and rendered in real-time using Unreal Engine 4.
Sci-fi Personal Utility Aircraft
Modeled in Maya, high-res sculpt in Zbrush, textured with Substance Painter, and rendered using Blender Eevee. Working on a hard surface vehicle was a nice challenge as it was my first time.
