Here's my portfolio project I have been working on up to this point! My next move once characters are done is to create the monsters for the Terror Dome universe. Thanks for stopping by!

Round of applause for our sponsors

Terror Dome is a personal passion project inspired by fun, over-the-top 2000s (Y2K) action and sci-fi film and games, such as Spy Kids (2001) and SXX: Tricky (2001). Terror Dome is an intergalactic monster hunting tournament with hunter-athletes sponsored and funded by various corporations to compete against one another to eliminate target monsters first. This IP concept project is a 3rd-person character action game, such as Devil May Cry or Horizon Zero Dawn, as its intended medium.

WORLD AND STORY

Terror Dome is a gladiator-style tournament with genetically enhanced monster hunters sponsored and funded by various corporations to compete against one another to eliminate monster bounties. The world of Terror Dome is set in a distant future when humans constructed artificial planets and expanded across the Milky Way galaxy. With the mysterious arrival of violent extraterrestrial monsters on several planets and the invasion of Astarte, a man-made planet, monster hunting became a profitable new profession. The artificial planet home to hundreds of millions of people was soon destroyed in attempt to contain and eliminate the monsters. Corporations conspired to profit from the anger and trauma of the people throughout the galaxy and organized in a joint effort to launch the new entertainment sport, Terror Dome.

THE TEST SUBJECT

The Test Subject was a character created for Terror Dome: The Prequel to explore and develop the world of Terror Dome.

Terror Dome: Prequel takes place before Astarte's destruction and the Terror Dome tournaments when monster hunting flourished as a profitable career after the monsters' invasion. The story follows an eager monster hunter who survives a sinister biotech company's body enhancement experiment to create the next evolution of humans. Under the guidance of a scheming corporate scientist with his own secret agenda, the monster hunter sets his eyes on an irresistible bounty for an artifact that controls monsters and their ability to walk between the humans’ world and the monsters’. With an artifact that threatens the existence of monsters- and consequently making this tremendous bounty reward possibly the last ever bounty- chaos erupts as our suped-up character battles through hunters and monsters in an epic race to the artifact on the battle-scarred planet, Astarte.

Work in progress for a prop concept  for Test Subject to absorb monster's energy attacks and process them to allow the Test Subject to use his ability to create wormholes, or portals.

RAMIEL, EVO CORP SCIENTIST

Thought I'd also share a work in progress for the antagonist in the Terror Dome: Prequel story!

PSYMON

Psymon is a character directly inspired by SSX: Tricky (2001) and reimagined for my project as a competitor in a sci-fi monster-hunting tournament. EVO Corp, a biotech company, acts as the sponsor for Psymon while he is indebted to compete and act as the face of the leading biological enhancement company in the combat sports industry.

The ancient alien ring strapped to his chest gives Psymon superhuman strength and abilities as though he's possessed by a demon.

Like other contestants, Psymon has access to a cybernetic dinosaur for quick transportation around the field. I wanted to translate the same design language and especially the feeling of a beast in chains, a cyber dino sharing the same fate as Psymon to serve their masters.

HANA

Our first Terror Dome game contestant is Hana, a natural entertainer and professional wrestler who gained notoriety as a monster-hunting mercenary. Utilizing her acrobatic wrestling moves, Hana strikes with quick and flashy kicks and knee attacks. Her signature move is a classic wrestling clothesline finisher using her reinforced artificial arm to knockout competitions.

Hana was created in honor of Hana Kimura, a Japanese professional wrestler, who died in 2020. Many of the design decisions were heavily inspired by her iconic wrestling outfit as seen in the attached mood board.

Dino Companion

My first concept for the Terror Dome project, the Dino Companion is a mount feature in the concept game for racing and gliding between fights for each character. When not traveling on the dino, transforms into a smaller form to function as a radar by displaying floating holograms on the player's back while playing in 3rd person. The work done here established the Y2K sci-fi aesthetic and art style I wanted to explore for the project.
