Explosion

After 4 months of learning Houdini's basics at school, I wanted to learn how to make an explosion.
It took me a long time to understand how it works, and how to build it properly.
Here is my way of working

I understood that the emitter is one of the most important thing to build an explosion.
It gives the velocity and the shape of the final explosion.
It needs a lot of time to make it fit what you want.
I started with a sphere, which I have modified into this shape.
Then I used a Popnet, to use the geometry as a base and transform it into particles.

When the emitter seems good, we need to transform it into smoke.
To do this, I used a Dopnet, in which I created a Pyro Solver Sparse, and I played with it.
I added Some gas disturbance to have more control on it.

Finally, for the shading, I used the PyroBakeVolume.
I added Scatter and Fire, and increased the density of the smoke a bit.
And then, the render was done with Mantra

This is how I created this explosion, and all the steps I learned about it.
Of course I still have a lot to learn, but I am still happy with the end result.
