Hello, my name is Anthony Chavez. I recently finished my studies about a year ago at the SAE Institute of Geneva in the VFX section. I am specialized in hard surface and I'm mostly interested in this skill for the industry of cinema. I present you here my creations made during my last school year but also the new ones

Projet Sweep Master 2027

This project is an inspiration from the concept art of Encho Enchev. The project is a vehicule designed to clean roads or airports.

I chose this project for its challenging machinery but also because we can only see one stage of the model. I had to interpret how it worked, giving it more complexity during the modeling and the texturing part. I followed a VFX industry pipeline and started with a preproduction to fully understand the concept thanks to the softwares PureRef and Miro. There were several work constraints during the modeling part such as: the sole use of Maya so I could work on the topology and make it with less polygons without changing the shape of the model. Then, the texturing part done with substance painter with 14 Udims and a 4K quality by udim. The lookdev and the production were made in Maya and then the post production was made with Nuke.

Project Nintendo Switch

For my second project, I created a Nintendo Switch. This modeling was very instructive for me because I had to model the outside and the inside of the console such as small intern parts. I followed the same VFX pipeline for it. I had the chance to learn about how the components were made and placed and how each one of them was important. The research part mattered a lot because every single part and material had to be as accurate as possible during the textures in Substance Painter.

Projet Storm Trooper

My third project is the modelling and sculpting of a Storm Trooper from Star Wars, all made in zbrush and maya. This was my first character realized until today and I really appreciated this new way of working and discovering new things, such as retopology and adding details through the displacement tool. The challenges were quite big because in the Star Wars lore, there are multiple soldier troopers. I had to make sure that all the meshes were connected and not separated to keep a nice transition with the goggles visor and the armor. I also made the Blaster E-11 to keep working on my speciatly: hardsurface.

Project Genshin Weapons

Finally, here is my bachelor project. I had to create two assets from the video game “Genshin Impact” but in a VFX style. This project taught me a lot about the differences between VFX for cinema and video games pipelines. The main difficulties were about staying true to the original concept without changing it while creating a more realistic result. The sword has to be done entirely on Maya as for the bow, it was done on zbrush to change the techniques. Thanks to this project, I was able to diversify my skills in hardsurface and 3D modeling.
