This short film showcases Camilla, a spellcasting student, demonstrating a new spell she learned in front of her class. As a part of the public, we see her demonstrating two skills.

Camilla is a student, so she has to wear a uniform. I chose to have only one color for most of the clothes, and to only add a contrasting color to the ribbons created by the spell, to attract attention to the change.

The sigil that appears behind Camilla was designed using the Enochian language, created by John Dee and Edward Kelley, and it spells the words "Kamila" (Enochian doesn't have a letter c, so I used the closest sound, which is k), "power" and "rise". Those words describe the spell and the person it applies to, and could be changed to apply to other people or objects.

For the world of the witches, I wanted magic that is showy and beautiful, so I added a lot of sparks to the circle and the wand that Camilla uses. The use of enochian is for looks as well as practicality. The alphabet is close to the latin alphabet, allowing me to recreate words easily, through sounds if a specific letter isn't available. It is also a beautiful alphabet, and it worked well with the kinds of circles I wanted to use.

I started by creating very complex circles, but decided yo go for a much simpler one as Camilla is still a student and wouldn't be able to create such a complex sigil as a class exercise with no help from a teacher or detailed notes and multiple tries. Those sigils can be used by teachers or masters of the different branches of magic, and the much larger amount of words can lead to very complex or specific spells.

For the classroom I wanted a space that is both relaxing and rich. I left a large space on the floor for Camilla and other students to show off their skills and practice spells. The walls have most of the interesting elements, like a poster showing the enochian alphabet, and a map of the night sky with indications about constellations and stars.

Camilla is a spellcasting student, but the world she's a part of is much larger, and has different branches of magic.

Depending on how long someone has been teaching, the motifs on their clothes will change, reflecting their experience and knowledge.

Different branches of magic have different uniforms, allowing witches to quickly identify others and their skills, as well as create unity among different branches.

For the colors of the film, I wanted to have contrast between the uniform, a deep blue, and the magic, a bright gold. I chose for the classroom to be a more muted blue so it contrasted with the magic as well, but without being too bright.
