Until now...

These are the best projects that I have done in the last year while studying the Master in VFX at FX Barcelona Film School, these were done in a month or less, but I am proud as I can see the change from the beggining till now. 

Marietas

Flipping up with Houdini, crazy simulations and in the end a nice warm beach is what comes out of an exhausting month... wish I could be there and crack a couple of cold ones open.

I was inspired by a place in Mexico, Las Marietas... one of the places that recovered thanks to the lockdown, and I wanted to recreate a tropical place, a dream like scenario where you can enjoy the sound of the waves. 

In the end the light coming through the water gives it an emerald color inspired by the color that you can only see in a tropical paradise.

Sunset in the Savanna

For this shot I wanted to add some lightwork applied on a texture and then set an animated geometry ablaze with some lights and capture what I feel is the essence of the wild side of the Savanna, staring at the horizon, the begining or end of a day and just gaze at it, the now calm cheetah coated with virtual hair, the magic done with Hounini's Vellum...

Roll the credits

It is hard to imagine how everything has turned on now... this was the very first project that I did in Houdini, and it was slightly harder than I thought to get the correct light in the scene, I was inspired by the opening from a show "Narco-Saints", I wanted to achieve the look of the light comming through what I thought it was a police office's blinds, giving it a dramatic view of the facts displayed in the investigation board. 

I picked this one in specific as a reminder from where I come... people keeps praising and glorifying the people that this very show depicts, when I saw this show it felt good that there are some people still fighting these groups of people, anyways... 

This was a very interesting year where I can now see under a different lens what I have done with the very little free time I have at hand, and now I think I am able to create a paradise like Marietas, or a fully dressed animal, and it al began with the credit scene of a TV show.
