Hi, this is a collection of my character art work from my final year of my degree, including both project work and dedicated portfolio pieces.

This is a collection of all the games character and creature art I've done during my final year at the University of Hertfordshire. This includes my work on my degree project as well as a personal portfolio piece at the end.

Desk Jockey - Main character

Desk Jockey is a final year games project. My role on the project was character artist and concept artist, and I was responsible for the creation of the main character.

Modelling and texturing was done by me. Rigging and animation was done by Lloyd Hickman.

Body and clothes were blocked out in Maya and Blender, with sculpting done in Zbrush. The clothes were modelled from scratch, however for the face I used a low poly face mesh from a metahuman, then sculpted into it by hand to achieve the look I wanted. For the pore detail I used displacement map projection using a displacement map from 3D scan store (female 01). Texturing was done in substance painter. Hair cards were made in Fibershop and placed in Blender.

I wanted to use Marvelous Designer for the clothes but I couldn't get access to it, so I instead sculpted the folds and by hand in Zbrush with the use of reference.

Desk Jockey - Creatures

In addition to the main character, I was also responsible for the creation of all the strange monsters that can be seen in the final film. I created 4 bipedal monsters, as well as a multitude of smaller monsters that were materialising from the office environment.

I modelled, textured and animated all of the monsters. The animations were done using morph shapes, save for 2 of the bipedal monsters, which were rigged by Keelin Henley.

Stylised Devil May Cry 3 Dante Bust

This final piece is a bit of personal portfolio work: a bust of Dante from DMC 3 in the style of arcane. For style reference I also looked at the Dishonoured games, and used Dante's depiction in DMC 3 and his DMC 5 real life model as general face reference. For this particular character I sculpted the face from scratch without the aid of a base mesh.

Blocked out in Blender and Maya, sculpted in Zbrush and textured in substance painter. Hair cards were made in Fibershop and placed manually in Blender.
