As an aspiring asset artist and hard surface modeler, I decided to showcase my most recent personal project(s)

PORTABLE NOSTALGIA AND A RACE AGAINST TIME.

Small but long-lasting... After being slightly unlucky with my health this year, it taught me to optimize and be efficient.

A week before our demo reel jury, I did not have anything to show because of my sick leave, unless it was some of my homework that I wasn't the most proud of as I was learning a lot of new things at the beginning of the year. So I wanted to come up with a small project that I liked, something doable but at the same time challenging in one week.

The gameboy is a fascinating console, pocket sized, fun and aesthetically pleasing. Something ahead of it's time, as it was pretty much the size of our phones today.
What struck me was the marks that almost everyone's gameboy had on the front, something very typical, and I wanted to teach myself to try to get it as close as possible to its reality in the texture. I modeled the console in 3 days, UVed and textured in 2 days. It was a lot of fun and as per any 3D project I learned a lot of new things. It also taught me about time constraints, and sometimes you have to be able to put your mouse down even if it's not perfect, and it makes you want to try out new things with new techniques.

12 hour challenge.

This watch was the ultimate time race, I modeled and textured the watch in less than a day, I collaborated with an FX student to create some drops and we rendered everything the night we started. Even though it's not perfect and very detailed it allowed to me to overcome the challenge of procrastination, that no matter how little time you have you can always try and see. In the end I am quite impressed by what we did, in such a short time frame!

Because hopefully I triggered even the slightest curiosity, here is a link to my demoreel with my combined works I mentioned above. Thanks for checking out my submisson! :)
