Alex Drewett - Modelling Showcase 2019
Here is a showcase of all the work that I produced over the course of my final year at university. I worked on two graduate films (one of which I directed) and was tasked with creating three assets that would be used. These included a DigiDouble, the Robotic Components for the Digidouble, and a Gun replacement.
Digi-Double
I was tasked with creating a digital version of our actor's head, which would then later be used as the base for adding Robotic components. I was given a scan of the actor's head which I smoothed in ZBrush then retopolised it in Maya. The actor's head was quite asymmetrical, I retoplogised one side of his head, mirrored it, then used the move tool in ZBrush to match the scan. I then began to sculpt in the skin detail using alphas that I downloaded online. Shown are the character sheets that I created of the sculpt, a turntable of a Displacement test that I created, as well as the final turntable and wireframe.
Robotic Head

I tracked the camera, as well as the Head and Legs. I also set up the rendering for the scene as well as the lighting.
These are the Robotic Components that I created for the DigiDouble. Here I was tasked with creating a Robotic Crainium for our Conductor that was futuristic, but still had a strong mechanical feel to it. I took a lot of inspiration from the work in Ex_Machina. With the DigiDouble completed, I continued to create the mechanical components. I worked closely with Stanley Cornwell ( https://www.artstation.com/stanaz97 ) in order to match our two assets aesthetically, as he was working on the Robotic Legs.
This asset was textured using the Hypershade, where I shared a lot of textures with Stan in order to match the assets. Overall, I am happy with how this asset turned out and I will continue to work on my hard surface skills.
Projector Gun
Comp by Imogen Pontin
For this shot, I tracked the camera as well as the gun. I also set up the lighting as well as the renders. I also played the dead body.
I was tasked with modelling a gun that would serve as a replacement to the prop that we used on set. I used a set of concept work that we had been given by an external artist. We had an original model of the prop that we created for which I used as a base.
I used Mari for Texturing with slight touch-ups in Photoshop, and finally rendering with Arnold.
