Enjoy your journey through the world of Children of the Sun (concept verse)

The world of Children of the sun exists with a clear border between rich and poor. The majors house is a symbol of a rich man that stands close to the people.

The idea of the mayors house originates from a Map design. Which I created before.

In this case, the house belongs to a family that has owned it for generations. It was built out of a mountain on top of a water source, which allows small vegetation to grow.

The civilization has been on the mountain for centuries not knowing that there is an way off. Every day they would see the sun come up and at one point started acknowledging it as their god. The children paint on the houses to bring in the sun but also to keep bad spirits away or to pray for health, luck and wealth.

The kite and its board are a vital vehicle in this grass rock filled landscape for (you) the protagonist to move around enemy patrols. The way this piece of equipment works is rather simple. you throw the kite in the air where it will unfold. Then you drop your board onto the floor and woosh you go.

The architecture does not only show the amount of wealth a family has but often also how religious they are. If you compare the small cubicle houses carved out of rocks you see they carry a lot of symbols. Almost literally worshiping the sun. the richer families however are a lot more subtle with this and use religious symbols to portray wealth. the richer they are, less important becomes religion and becomes more of a statement.

Kids leaves a chalk mark behind to thank the sun for allowing the forest to grow but to also find her way back in case she gets lost with her father. (notice the tiny chalk mark on the rock, which symbolises the top of a mountain with the sun above it)

The attic is an exploration piece which tries to capture the look and feel of the upper class in the world of Children of the sun. If you scroll back up you'll see concept art of three different types of houses. The richest house in white, the upper floor is this location. I tried to have several layers of exploration within this piece, that as when you look longer you'll find more and more story elements.

For example,

The altar on the right functions to worship the sun. It is inspired by buddhist artworks found in monasteries around the world which portrays the cycle of the sun but also the realms of men and demons. The gold and wood symbolises the wealth these people have. Since there are not many trees in the world of children of the sun having wooden objects is seen as being part of the elite.

Interior cloth shop. I made for a key story moment in my world. The location was designer for mood and style. Most of my designs are designed in a way they serve multiple purposes as that's more efficient.

Here is a clear view of what the clothing shop would look like from the outside. It can be placed in alleys, markets and elsewhere.

Father hasn't been home in 4 days. He said he went to the edge of the world where the endless clouds meet the gazing of the sun.
