Graham
A student short 3D animation made for my master’s degree final project. Directed and animated by Michaela Brückner. ‘An older couple. They cannot be together. They cannot be apart. Will her favourite flowers offer Graham comfort?’
Forewarning, it is better to watch the film before reading about it! No spoilers.
Final Film
Exploring themes of 'on and off screen interaction', and 'building a presence and then taking it away'.
Synapsis:
A couple's life together, or the end of it, filled with memories, longing and missing. On the surface, Graham acts like his usual quirky self, reminiscing in their life together. Though underneath that layer, he is truly suffering. Pretending, still mourning and feeling Grace's absence. Actions start speaking louder than words. Graham finds a sense of comfort in speaking to Grace, even now. Gone or not, she is still there for him. Finally, he places the last flower beside her memorial photo. As though through that act, he is finally able to move on. He smiles, and decides to begin fixing his broken house.
