Harshitha Suresh Portfolio 2023
I am Harshitha, aka The Shadey Artist. I am very passionate about design and storytelling, so much so that I took it one step further: making a career out of it. Take a peak into the rabbit hole!
Motion Reel
Hello! I am Harshitha, a Motion Design generalist from India, and a recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design! I pride in being multidisciplinary and am constantly on the quest to learn new things.
Here's a compilation of work that I've thoroughly enjoyed creating, through my last year at school.
Synesthesia
The aim of this project was to understand the kind of synesthesia that I experienced; something which I had taken for granted until this point. Synesthesia is a condition wherein the stimulation of one sensory pathway (hearing) leads to involuntary experiences with a second pathway (sight).
Before I started directing my piece, I exposed myself to different genres of music varying in pacing, rhythm, mood and chord progressions, to establish what triggered visuals when I heard music. And the final sound track was composed with the aim of checking all these triggers. It was a struggle to assign words to something so abstract. But to loosely put it - I often saw repeating patterns and geometric movement - predominantly in blue and pink tones; which I tried translating into this piece.

Java Jazz Festival (Promo)
The Java Jazz Festival is an annual ode to the dying and niche art of Jazz which I created a mock promo for, simply out of my love for music and the genre specifically. My aim through this piece was to bring a fresh look to Jazz while still holding on to some of its traditional attributes. To further facilitate the concept, I chose an upbeat, electro swing soundtrack to go with the promo visuals, portraying the comeback of Jazz 2.0 - now fresh and remixed!

Lucifer (Title Sequence)
Lucifer is a series that focuses on the devil, who, tired of the millennia he spent being Lord of Hell, abdicates his throne in defiance of his father (God), and ironically come to the City of Angels, LA.
This piece features textured brush strokes animating in and out of the styleframes, mimicking classical realism paintings. The visuals are juxtaposed with a rock music sound track, portraying duality in the antihero’s personality. The styleframes were illustrated on Photoshop; each frame painted from scratch!

Beyond
While Beyond involves futuristic flying orbs and gravity defying architecture, it is in fact more of a reflective piece to me, that best conveys my feelings towards obstacles in life. At any point, the problem in front of us seems to be the only thing in focus, until one steps back and sees the bigger picture. There is a lot more beyond what one feels like a big thing engulfing their life at the moment.
