Limbloss

Limbloss is a game developed by 6 students at Howest Digital Arts and Entertainment during 1 semester.

You all play as a robot knight with the goal to cut off all the Limbs of your opponents, without losing your own limbs or head. The last robot standing dances victorious!

That's it? No no no.

Not only can you cut off limbs but you can also reattach them! After some time the arm will be available to re-attach BUT be careful you can snatch your opponents arm and your opponent can snatch away your arm so you better be fast.

Many Obstacles can hinder your goal or be of great advantage to you. Who knows what tricks you can play to become the winner.

And watch out!  You are a robot, falling into the water will cost you your Life!

Gameplay

Limbloss is a couch PvP brawler with physics where you play against 3 friends as a robot.

The 4 players, little robot knights,  fight in a medieval arena surrounded by water, players fight by chopping off arms and pushing each other. Each player has 3 lives.

The core mechanic of our game is the chopping off of arms followed by the ability to reattach them again. But remember when you lose both arms, your head pops up and your neck becomes the prime target!

In the arena there are also 2 types of traps that pack quite the punch and watch your step! There are some dangerous holes!

To win be the final knight standing!

Environment

Our game is set in front of a medieval castle surrounded by a moat. Below you can see our process.

Character

Our playable character is a cute little robot knight, but beware of his mighty sword! Below you can see our process.

RFX

Our effects are important for player feedback, below you can see some keyframes of some more important ones. To see them in action check our our devlogs. We used a combination of sprites and simple spritesheets to achieve a cartoony effect.

UI

The UI has been designed to help shape the feel and look of the game. Below you can see some of our UI/HUD elements.

Programming and sound

Ofcourse this game would not be possible without the blood sweat and tears of our very talented game developers. Unreal has no more secrets for them.

Also an important part of the game is sound design. Luckily we had a talented sound designer.
