EXHIBITION DESIGN  ( Client : Cirque Du Soleil )

To design a temporary 3 months Exhibition for Cirque Du Soleil. The name of the exhibition will be The Grand Illusion: Cirque Du Soleil with the concept of Storyline of Boundless Illusions. Exhibition in total will be 18.500 sqft and located at Symphony lake within KLCC Park.Exact Address is at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur City Center, 50088 Kuala Lumpur,Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

CONCEPT : Storyline of Borderless Illusion

The concept is to design an exhibit that is presented based on an endless interactive storyline. Presenting an informative one way storyline of the behind the scenes of Cirque du soleil without making visitors bored. The goal of the design is to create a learning enviorment that is as exciting as watching a circus shows its self, resulting in the best outcome for a wide age group, high level of excitement ,interactive learning, a more memorable experience and great first impressions. Entrance started from one tunnel which then directs visitors to an amphiteatere (structure inside of a structure) continued with the storyline of immersive rooms that integrates to one another. Areas/rooms will be the history tunnel, amphiteater, 3 most terain challanging productions and ended with the 3 production departments. The theme of Immersive rooms are to bring visitors inside a surreal worlds of each topics, creating an endless storyline to explore. Rooms will be intagramable for free social media marketing and ensuring maximum learning through 5 senses and visual impressions. When visitors go inside they wont feel like their going inside a museum, but really transporting them to a once in a lifetime experience.

The structure itsself is inspired by the shape of the iconic tent and a reflection of the 2 main values in Cirque du Soleil. The values are, “unbounded” by languange and at the core is performers with great “dynamicity/energy and high tech machinery”. Both values effects the design element to be more expressive, boundless, edgy and dynamic. The building adjust towards the terrains and overall condition of the site by having similar cladding material(steel and glass) making fits nicely to the surrounding buildings. The structure’s height is higher towards the west area to allow double volume, allowing air to rise for better air circulation battling the hot sun. Not only allowing air to rise but also creates shade for lower areas towards the east side. An opening towards the south side faces the beautiful garden view and allow wind to enter and catched for natural ventilation. The opening also curves a pond in the middle, integrating the water element that also acts as cooling agent where people can sit on the surroundings to rest.

Following the concept of a storyline, the exhibit is designed to be a one way flow. In which they will first encounter the main entrance. The ramp already starts from here, visitors should buy their ticket on the ticket box and go inside through an autogate. From here on they would flow through the History hallway which will then lead them to the amphiteather.

The amphiteather is created to fullfil the clients needs to have a performance area for their traveling acts. The amphiteater itself stands as an independent structure within a structure. It have a ground level backctage area for the performers, the centralized sitting area at first floor and a second floor that acts as a staff gallery that controls lightings and aerialists. The amphiteater itsself is covered with a dome ceiling that allows 360 projections which would allow immersive shows during the intervals between performances.

O Production

The O production presents the production of O show that is inside the water. Here a curved LED screen envelopes the swinging boat exhibit that is a mini replica of the one used in the show. technical informations are shared on the LED screen. Visitors are guided by holographic characters that is from the production its self. Other interactive stations such as the water tank are provided.

KA Production

Ka production is to represent the making of a circus show using mechanically moved terrains. The machinery in the making is really another level. To reflect that industrial ambience, a lot of metals and warm red lightings are used. a rotating floor with a sculpture table is also presented to have that dynamic feeling. A kids interactive shadow puppet corner also added interest and a more personal touch to this area.

CRYSTAL Production

This exhibit represent cirque on Ice. Their infos are mostly located on the central glowing blue acrylic column. The Crystal production is special because the room is designed to be more cold that other rooms to tinggle that senses on the skin. Not only that but the floor is equiped with interactive ice breaking patterns that follow the visitors.

Music department

Music department is an area that is meant for people to leisure around and listen to the music compositions while looking at the videos that is projected on the sound trees. This area is alsomeant for people to chill after such a long walk before.

Costume Department

Costume department have a small runway area for holographic models with the show’s costumes which can be adjusted by the visitors through tabs below the runway. Their is also a kids corner to do custom make up and masks. Swatches of fabric materials are also shown to add more interactives aspects to visitors.

VR PODS

VR Pods are exhibited to allolw visitors to switch rolls with the atheletes. The pods are each equiped with rollable curtains that provide semi privacy. Their is also a tree like structure in the middle to round up the surreal forrest theme.

Relaxation area

Relaxation area is located on the pond edges of the cut out layout exposing the structure to a small cove that allownatural ventilation , lighting and cooling agent to come through. This area will have tons of breeze and sitting areas for people to relax and buy food from cafetaria.

Cirque Du Monde Kids Station

This kids station is created to promote cirque du monde program for kids with character building problems. The station provides reception area, gymnastic areas, and changing rooms for the visitors. This area is mostly kids-centric but some programs are also applicable for adults.

RESTAURANT DESIGN (Client: Geranium)

To design a fine dining restaurant space for my current client Geranium with the concept of Unraveling of Exuding Stimulation. Restaurant will be 10000 sqft made out of 3 stories included the rooftop. Site is located at Jalan Maarof, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur.

Concept : Unraveling of Exuding Stimulation

The concept is inspired from Geranium logo. Geranium exudes a strong aromatic aromatherapy that “awaken the senses. The chef believes that by being relaxed and fully immersed, human’s senses are “awaken” in which their state of sensitivity towards food Increased. The overall concept starts from when the geranium is still a bud unraveling to a bloomed state and the reception of the smell which stimulates the senses. Keywords are, Unravel, taken from the unraveling bud on which moti on is compact towards loosening. Second, Exude is when the bloomed geranium oozes out its aroma that radiates everywhere. Lastly Interrelation, when the aroma reaches the nose and release a pleasurable and relaxed feeling. The form of the concept is an unraveling strips of wood that moves in a random and edgy direction. As the bunch unravels from edge to edge, the wood strips loosen and get bigger. The more it turns the wider it gets. As it gets wider, the strips transforms into solid curves that follows the movement of the bunch. The elements moves in an energetic way to bring a strong fluctuation of energy into the interior’s atmosphere.

ISOMETRIC

EXTERIOR FACADE

Rendered at night condition allow a more dramatic ambience where all the lighting is visible. Lighting from the upper floors also illuminates through the full height windows, allowing people to see what is inside.

SIDE PERSPECTIVE ELEVATION

SECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE X-X

I believe sectional perspective is the best way to present a section, since it is more understandable and shows the lighting/ material effects

SECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE Y-Y

I believe sectional perspective is the best way to present a section, since it is more understandable and shows the lighting/ material effects
